STELLHAUS · LICENCE TERMS
Version 2, 29 October 2026 · DRAFT, not yet reviewed by a lawyer · Translation; the Dutch text above prevails.

1. What this is
Stellhaus (also: Seinhuis) is software to control a model railway. You do not buy the software: August grants you a
right of use under these terms. "You" is whoever uses Stellhaus or buys a licence; a "consumer" is someone not
acting for a trade or business.

2. Without a licence (Free)
You may download, install and use Stellhaus without a licence in the simulation, and on a real layout in "Read only"
   mode.

3. Trial
With a trial key you may use all features (Club edition) for 60 days to try Stellhaus. One trial per person and per
installation. Afterwards section 2 applies again, until you buy a licence.

4. Purchased licence
   a. A licence key lets you use the edition you bought (Basic, Standard, Plus or Club) without an end date, for the
major version it covers (for example 1.x).
   b. Basic, Standard and Plus are for private use: for your own layout(s), on your own computers, by you, your
      household and your guests.
   c. Club is for one association, club or exhibition, on the computers it uses.
   d. Transfer: you may transfer your licence to one other person if you then stop using Stellhaus with that key,
remove the key from your computers and tell August the new e-mail address. The new owner gets the same rights and
      obligations.
   e. Commercial use (for example a paid attraction, or selling layouts with Stellhaus on them) requires a prior
      agreement with August.

5. Not allowed
   a. Distributing, selling, renting or offering Stellhaus, licence keys or modified versions, other than under 4d.
   b. Circumventing or disabling the licence check, or forging a key.
   c. Removing trademarks, the logo or copyright notices.
You may read the source code and modify it for yourself to run your own layout, and make backup copies. Anything
else the law allows you (for example correcting errors or making it work with other programs) remains allowed.

6. Updates
   a. Updates within your licence's major version are free. Updates needed to keep Stellhaus working as promised
(including security updates) are provided for as long as you may reasonably expect.
   b. For a new major version August may charge an upgrade price. You may keep using your old version.

7. Safety
Stellhaus controls real trains. Stay with your layout and keep a stop button within reach, in Stellhaus and on your
command station. On a new layout, start in "Read only" mode with cautious mode on. You remain responsible for what
   happens on your layout.

8. Statutory rights and warranty
   a. If you are a consumer, you have the statutory rights for digital content: Stellhaus must do what you could
expect from its description, including the necessary updates. If it does not, August fixes it or refunds (part
of) the price. These terms do not limit those rights.
   b. Beyond the law August gives no additional warranty. In particular August does not guarantee that Stellhaus works
without faults on every layout, with every command station or decoder.

9. Liability
   a. There is no limitation for damage caused by intent or gross negligence of August, or for personal injury.
   b. If you are a consumer, August is liable as the law provides; these terms do not limit that further than the law
      allows.
   c. If you buy as a club, association or business, August is not liable for consequential loss, lost profit or damage
to trains and layouts, and total liability is limited to the price of the licence, except in the case of a.

10. Right of withdrawal
A licence key is digital content delivered immediately after payment. At checkout August asks you to expressly
agree to immediate delivery and to acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal; August confirms this
on the invoice. Without that consent you cannot buy. The 60-day trial lets you try Stellhaus first. If your licence
does not work, contact us: we will fix it or refund you (section 8).

11. Personal data
How August handles your data (for the trial and when you buy) is described in the privacy notice at
https://stellhaus.com/legal#privacy. The program itself only sends something to August when you request a trial.

12. Other software
Stellhaus includes the ws library (MIT licence, see node_modules/ws/LICENSE).

13. Trademark
Stellhaus™ and the logo are trademarks of August.

14. Changes
August may change these terms for new versions and new licences. A licence you already have keeps the terms from
the time of purchase, unless a change is only to your advantage.

15. Law and disputes
Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of that country's
mandatory rules. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless the law gives you as a consumer the
right to a court in your own country.
